World Day Against Cyber Censorship - Definition from the Hotspot Shield Glossary

This WDACC is an annual event held on the 12 of March since 2008 and its aim is to combat the censorship of the internet, highlight ways in which governments are implementing censorship, and trying to realize an unrestricted internet that anyone can access freely.

During this day, a Netizen Prize is awarded to an internet user that has made a great contribution to online freedom of expression, furthermore, an Enemies of the Internet list is maintained which outlines countries that actively practice censorship or internet surveillance. This day is an important day for cyber-dissidents and those who fight for the cause of internet freedom and against the oppressive nature of severe government censorship.
