Tor2web - Definition from the Hotspot Shield Encyclopedia
This is a piece of software that allows Tor Hidden Services to be accessed from a web browser.
A user can simply use the software and not even have to register or connect to the Tor network. Tor2web was developed with the premise that people would be able to post information with a degree of anonymity, and then this information could still be accessed by the public on generic web browsers. The software is specifically used for whistle blowing and to enable dissidents to publish material without the fear of reprisal of being traced. Tor2web uses voluntarily operated servers and although it displays information from Tor websites, it does not provide any means of security other than using HTTPS.
