Tor Mail is a now defunct mail service that was operated through the Tor network until 2013. Tor Mail was used to send and receive emails with a high level of anonymity.

The Tor Mail service was a sign-up service where you had to sign up through the Tor Hidden Service. The providers who maintained the Tor Mail service would not cooperate with anyone trying to access email information, and the had an extensive system using relays, hidden servers and secure incoming and outgoing email servers. In 2013 it was reported that the Tor Mail service had been hacked by the FBI and a notice appeared on the Tor Mail website that the service was Down for maintenance since then it has never been reopened.
