Shadow Network - Definition from the Hotspot Shield Glossary
The Shadow Network was an espionage operation that stole documents from the office of the Dalai Lama, the Indian Government and other governments. The scope and content of the documents stolen was considerable; over 1500 emails from the Dalai Lama’s Office were stolen, together with classified documents of the Indian Government detailing security plans and missile system reports.
The group was tracked down and the information they stolen uncovered by Warfare Monitor and the Shadowserver Foundation (Two organizations that deal with electronic fraud and security threats) after an extensive 8 month investigation. Reports of the attacker’s whereabouts link them back to an area in China in the Sichuan province, but there was no official confirmation.
