Internet Ungovernance Forum - Definition from the Hotspot Shield Glossary

The IGF is a political forum to discuss ideas and issues surrounding the governance of the internet. The organization aims to bring together businesses, governments, organizations and individuals to create an open and equal discussion with an inclusive process.

Each year the IGF holds meetings to discuss ideas about openness, online security, diversity and the accessibility of the internet. Furthermore the IGF holds workshops to educate people about the internet, forums to demonstrate appropriate practices on the internet and national initiatives. The main annual meeting of the IGF has been held since 2006, with the first meeting taking place in Athens and the most recent in 2016 will be held in Mexico.
