Internet Security Research Group - Definition from the Hotspot Shield Glossary

The Internet Security Research Group is an organization that deals with security on the internet. The group board members are made up of high ranking individuals from Mozilla, Cisco, CoreOS, the Electronic Frontier Foundation and Akamai Technologies. The group was formed in 2013 and is a non-profit organization specifically created to help the public and improve global internet security.

The most notable initiative created by the ISRG to date is the “Let’s Encrypt” initiative that aims to provide SSL/TLS digital certificates for free and in an automated fashion for ease of use - This initiative tries to provide a user-friendly experience that will benefit anyone wishing to enable HTTPS for websites and obtain digital certificates.
