Bitcoin faucet - Definition from the Hotspot Shield Encyclopedia
A Bitcoin Faucet is a form of reward system that is used to dispense small amounts of Bitcoins in return for the user completing a specific task. The reward of a Faucet will usually be in Satoshi's (Satoshi is a hundredth of a million of a Bitcoin) and due to the extremely small nature of the reward, users will usually build up their rewards before making withdrawals. Tasks that have to be completed to gain rewards are usually filling out a computer generated CAPTCHA. The main aims of Bitcoin Faucets is to serve as an entry point for new users into the world of Bitcoin and digital currencies, to gain increased traffic and exposure for a website, and to make profit. Most Bitcoin Faucets will also have a referral system where existing users can recommend the service to their friends and family in return for a small Bitcoin reward.
