SecureDrop is a submission system that allows users to submit data and information relating whistleblowing, and allows media companies to access this information so they can publish it.

The system was created by Aaron Swartz and is controlled by the Freedom of the Press Foundation. SecureDrop can be installed by media organizations, once installed they can accept documents from whistle-blowers and anonymous sources. The system uses a dual server system. One system to store the documents received from the anonymous sources, and the other to monitor security. The server that accepts the public documents can only be accessed through the Tor Network using Tor Hidden Services. Many well-known organizations have used SecureDrop including Forbes, The Washington Post and the Associated Press.
