La Quadrature du Net - Definition from the Hotspot Shield Encyclopedia
This is a French group that tries to advocate the respect of individuals privacy on the internet and the cornerstone foundations that the internet was built on such as free speech and free circulation of knowledge.
The group has acted against internet censorship and many pieces of legislation that the French government has tried to impose. La Quadrature du Net has support from other similar groups including the EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation) and the FSF (Free Software Foundation). The group changed from an advocacy, to a formal association in 2013 by 8 individuals who had a long standing involvement with the group. Several of the members are invited to interviews and TV programs to provide their argument and to defend the publics civil liberties.
