This is the perceived “end of the internet” due to cataclysmic attacks and sabotage that would result in the total destruction of the internet.
The term is a play on words relating to the predicted Armageddon or end of the world. Various scenarios have been envisioned that include mass cyberterrorism, cyberwarfare, cybercrime and hacking on a global scale; these actions would be perpetrated in a similar timeframe on multiple governments and organizations with the aim of causing huge disruptions and crippling important public infrastructure like the finance sector. While Cybergeddon is not likely to happen, there are people who claim that it is possible and that the increase in cyber-attacks from 2012 points to this.
