New Netflix Originals To Watch Out For This Fall Season

The fall season has come at last, and you know what that means — it’s the return of your favorite TV shows, as well as the start of new ones. 2017’s fall TV lineup looks to be in phenomenal shape, as several network and cable channels have quite a few brand new shows waiting to premier.

Netflix is no exception. The video streaming giant has a slew of highly anticipated content premiering this September, which means fans are sure to be in for a treat. We’ve compiled a list of Netflix’s best new upcoming originals, so that you won’t miss out on any of them.

American Vandal

Jimmy Tatro stars as Dylan, the titular “vandal” who finds himself expelled from his high school after being accused of vandalizing 27 cars in the school parking lot. It’s a comedy that satirizes the resurgence of the true crime genre, from the minds behind the wildly popular Youtube channel Screen Junkies.

From the trailer, it’s clear that American Vandal both parodies and pays homage to many true crime documentary series such as Netflix’s own Making a Murderer. Common documentary tropes are subverted for comedic effect.

Premier date: September 15, 2017

Mindhunter

Set in 1979, this drama follows FBI Special Agent Holden Ford (played by Jonathan Groff) as he travels around the country to interview serial killers and rapists in order to study how their minds work. He does this so that the FBI can prevent future crimes from happening.

Based on a book by John E. Douglas and Mark Olshaker, Mindhunter is executive produced by Charlize Theron and David Fincher, who is known for his directorial work psychological thrillers like Seven, Gone Girl, and Zodiac.

Premier date: October 13, 2017

Stranger Things (Season 2)

The 2016 popculture phenomenon now has a second season to be released by the end of October. The town of Hawkins is still recovering from the events that transpired during the first season, but things are looking even darker and more dangerous this time around.

This is especially true for the four boys (Will, Mike, Lucas, and Dustin) at the show’s center. As they continue their search for Eleven, they must face new horrors from the strange and terrifying world of the Upside Down.

Premier date: October 27, 2017

Godless

Set in the 1880s, Godless is a western that tells the story of Frank Griffin (played by Jeff Daniels) as he chases his former partner-in-crime Roy Goode (played by Jack O’Connell), who is now his enemy.

The show was created by Scott Frank, who wrote the screenplay for Logan along James Mangold and Michael Green, and director Steven Soderbergh, who’s helmed hit films like the Ocean’s Trilogy, Magic Mike, and Contagion.

Premier date: November 22, 2017
