The Fourth of July, also known as Independence Day, commemorates the day America declared its independence from England in 1776.

What else could be more patriotic on this day than to reflect on the Constitution and the Bill of Rights? Better yet, our basic human right: The Right to Privacy? Check out our infographic on the topic

For many years, there has been much debate on whether or not the Right to Privacy appears in the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Although the Constitution does not specifically mention the Right to Privacy, the Bill of Rights protects some aspects of privacy. According to the Center for Democracy & Technology, privacy rights against government intrusion are derived from the 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 9th and 14th amendments.

In celebration of America’s freedom, we would like to share the History of the Rights to Privacy, which contains a timeline of facts about privacy in America and how it evolved over the years.

While you are enjoying the Fourth of July with parades, fireworks and backyard barbecues, show your patriotism by sharing these fun facts with your family and friends.

On behalf of Hotspot Shield, we wish you all a safe and relaxing Fourth of July!
